The Age of Tee's & Tennis Shoes
Like most people, I’ve gone through many styles in my 30-some years. In this season of life, I dress for comfort and convenience — but I don’t want to forgo some of my favorite looks just because I became a mom. Sure, I swapped out my heels for tennis shoes, but who says sneakers can’t be cute? My feet are sure thanking me these days.
Once upon a time I was considered a pretty stylish lady, so I figured I’d share a few outfits that I’m totally loving right now and that are stylish and comfy for a gal on the go.
Outfit #1: Jean jacket, tee or sweater, with black leggings and a sneaker.
Spring is all about the layers, friends. It’s freezing in the morning and by lunch time you’re ready to be in a t-shirt. Not to mention if you’re a mama like me, and you’ve got errands to run and playdates planned, you’re sweating by the time you’ve packed up yourself, the baby and the diaper bag.
I found the perfect denim jacket from Target. It’s tapered at the waist and doesn’t make me feel boxy and it’s got some stretch so I don’t feel like I’m in a straitjacket.
The black leggings are from Old Navy and have the cutest criss cross detailing in the back of the ankle. My inner ballerina loved them. (Pants included in the link are similar.) They are thicker so I felt comfortable wearing them out and about. Nothing is worse than see through leggings am I right?
The sneakers are Nike Free RN and they are my FAVORITE running shoe. I’m also loving this mauve color, too. It’s a perfect neutral and will go with anything. Very comfortable for dance parties and toddler chasing.
Outfit #2: Tee and distressed blue jeans.
I live in t-shirts and jeans these days. Like I said before, I’m always hot when I’m trying to round Vera up and get us out the door, so this is perfect for me.
I am also loving the knotted look these days with tees. I have a short torso and short legs, so I feel like this gives me a waist with a looser-fitting shirt. I also like to do a half tuck for this look, too.
The jeans and tee are from Zara. The jeans are high-rise and I LOVE them. They tuck everything in and give me a great waist. See ya, low rise! I’ll never buy them again.
Although I’m barefoot in the photo here, I paired this with my new high-top Converse. I love the light gray color and they go with everything. Plus, they make me feel young and somewhat cool again.
Outfit #3: White button-down with jeans.
This for me is what I would called “dressed up”. Actually I wore this outfit to date night a few weeks ago with Anton and it was perfect. I paired it with a beige booty.
The Portofino shirts from Express are my favorite! They are light and breezy, and you can dress them up for work or going out and you can dress them down. Every gal needs one in her wardrobe. Especially a classic white button down.
For another look, I just added an olive green utility jacket. This one is from Target. Still keeping it pretty casual, but also another great option for going out with your guy.
Outfit #4: Joggers, black tank, old man sweater.
As I’m typing this up right now, that’s what I’m wearing. This is the real deal folks. I love clothes, shoes, scarves, and all the things but if you surprised me at home, this is most likely what I’d be wearing. I’m not a fancy lady all the time, friends, and I’m cool with it.
Own your sweatpants, ladies. You are fierce in them.
